7 TIPS TO GET MARRIED WHEREVER YOU WANT
Forget about prejudices. We all know that many times we fantasize about celebrating our wedding in an atypical place but those ideas fade away due to laziness, comments from family and friends or because that place really has nothing to do with you. If you are one of the first group, let me tell you that you should give it a try. Go against the current, get married where you feel like it and, the rest, you’ll see. Nothing is impossible and nowadays the wedding industry is full of professionals that will make your life easier. What do you say? Ready to think about it and organize your wedding where you really want it to be? Here are a series of tips from the experience of having done a wedding or two:
- Look for inspiration on different spaces where you can celebrate your wedding. You will be amazed at the venues we have done weddings in, from a barn to an industrial building to an airfield . You will have much more freedom to decorate and create a space with more personality. And, of course, getting married outdoors is also a great option.
2. Write some personal vows. It’s all very well to be inspired by certain texts, phrases from movies or songs that you like, but there is nothing like being honest with your partner and tell him/her something from the heart, with your personal “touch”.
3. Create the script of your story. Become the narrator of your own story. You already know that storytelling, nowadays, triumphs. There are weddings that start with hugs, that already predisposes the guests to enjoy your big day much more.
4. Make the moment your own. Be consistent with your tastes and personality. Don’t do anything that doesn’t represent you. And enjoy it! There will be words that move you and others that make you laugh out loud, but they will all speak of you.
5. Hire good wedding planners. They have a multitude of ideas and contacts to draw on at any given time. They will custom design the ceremony and help you with everything you need.
6. We are big fans of “second weddings”. Those that are celebrated after the fact, not on the same day you sign the marriage certificate. Because that already implies having a legal figure and everything becomes more impersonal and cold.
7. Let yourself be surprised. Don’t want to have everything under control, to know who is going to say what at any given moment. Give your guests the freedom to actively participate in the event. Quotes from movies, texts or songs that are a good reflection of who you are are good allies when it comes to reading something to you that day.
