It is there, on the hill, watching Bilbao from above, seeing San Mamés, watching the estuary stretch out as if it were trying to embrace everything.

It is impossible to walk by and not turn your head. If there is a place to get married in Bilbao and you can tell it’s Bilbao, this is it.

And Mireia and Joseba knew it.

An Extremaduran woman in Bilbao

Mireia was not born here. But he ended up staying.

For love, for Joseba, for everything he found afterwards.

And when the time came to get married, there was no hesitation.

If I had to say “I do” in Bilbao, it had to be with Bilbao in front of me.

A ceremony with the entire city as witness

A cocktail with Bilbao at your feet

It was not a cocktail party, it was a balcony over the city.

Guests took pictures, pointed out streets, played at finding their house from up there.

But the scenery was not everything.

There was something in the air, that perfect mix between emotion and calm, between celebration and pause, between the solemn and the natural.

As if Bilbao was not only in the background, but inside the wedding.

A banquet with an industrial soul

The banquet was not held just anywhere.

The space was diaphanous, with clean lines, with an industrial feel that didn’t need decoration to say something.

Concrete, iron, high ceilings. A place that could have been a factory a hundred years ago and that now, with the lights on and the tables set up, was the most welcoming place in the world.

Flowers & Co. filled with green what was gray.

Berezi Moments did what they do best: turn a space with character into a space with soul.

And they succeeded.

What’s left when everything shuts down

I could talk about the view, the dress, the exact moment when the sunset light bounced off the canopy.

But what remains is something else.

It is the way Mireia looked at Joseba knowing that Bilbao was no longer just the city where he lived, but the story he was writing.

It’s the feeling that this wedding could only happen there.

Because there are many ways to get married in Bilbao.

But few so bilbaínas as to do it while you have the whole of Bilbao at your feet.
